School Classes
An interesting and educational day in Heidelberg
We can offer you a full program at an advantageous price, from arrival to departure. The class excursion consists of three modules:
- I. The Heidelberg castle and a history quiz
- II. The Old Town
- III. A riverboat trip on the Neckar
Of course, your school class can also visit the castle ruins only, without the Old Town or the boat trip.
I. The Heidelberg castle
Make history appealing to your pupils with an audio tour! Our modern guided tour presents 20 of the most interesting sights in roughly ninety minutes.
Sound effects, poems and numerous sagas make the tour come alive. Experience shows that students like to explore the castle with the audio guides independently or in groups.
Together with our audio tour, we offer a history quiz (English, German, French). It's an interesting and instructive game. (Please bring writing material!)
Special Prices for Pupils & Teachers
Audio Tour: EUR 3,00 per audio guide (Groups of 20+, teachers free)
Castle Admission: EUR 5,50 per pupil (Teachers free)
II. The Old Town
After the castle, your class arrives at the Market Square and the Church of the Holy Ghost in about ten minutes on foot.
1. The Church of the Holy Ghost- Crypts of the Electors Palatinate (e.g., Ruprecht III).
- Former home of the invaluable Bibliotheca Palatina.
- One of the finest bridges in the world (built 1786-1788).
- The Bridge Ape: a symbol of human shortcomings.
- River Gods symbolizing the Danube, Rhine, Neckar, and Mosel.
III. Riverboat Trip on the Neckar
Take a five minutes' walk to the landing-stage "Stadthalle". Your class can enjoy a scenic trip upriver through the lower Neckar valley.
Passing under the Old Bridge and through the lock (raised by 3 meters) is a fascinating experience. You will also see the Benedictine monastery Stift Neuburg.
